Our sustainability performance

We believe in the principle of lived practice. This means that we continuously work on and further develop our own sustainability performance.

The 17 goals for sustainable development, also known as SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), cover all three areas of sustainable development: ecological, economic and social. They are aimed at everyone: politics, business, science and every individual:n.

We have also considered the areas in which we are already active today. The SDGs where we have an impact are coloured in and those where we (still) have little impact are greyed out.

Aldea Venado – Permaculture Gardens in Yucatan (See also SDG 15)

The Aldea Venado project, founded in 2021, 45 km from Merida and 10 km from Izamal on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, has set itself the goal of bringing the traditional Mayan culture, the operation of permaculture gardens and the reforestation of gardens, back to the area. In cooperation with nature to satisfy human needs in the most efficient, sustainable and ecological way possible and with respect for natural cycles, a community project is to be created here.

The Aldea Venado and Mexico project represents a personal fascination for our founder Elisabeth Kraut. During her first study visit to Mexico in 2016, she joined a group of young committed people. The contact continues to this day. And it was precisely these who founded Aldeo Venado and corresponds to every idea of lived, regional sustainability and is therefore also used by 7stepssolution supported.

Solidarity Agriculture Mülheim e.V.

Ensuring an ecological, diverse and fair local supply – this is what the solidarity agriculture in Mühlheim has done set a goal. Founded in 2022, a group of people finances a vegetable business for a fixed monthly fee. In return, members receive a weekly harvest share of fresh organic vegetables.

By pre-financing the harvest, the farmers can cover all costs and receive a fair wage. They also gain planning security and greater freedom in cultivation methods than is the case in the current market system with intermediaries, where price pressure is the determining factor.

The 7stepssolution participates financially in its crowdfunding campaign for the further development, as well as through word of mouth to support the project and purchase vegetables next year.

SDG 3 Good Health and well-being

SDG 3 – Health and well-being

Health and well-being at 7steps

Mental and physical health is a topic that is omnipresent in the current corporate world. Excessive stress can manifest itself in many different ways and, if left unmanaged, can cause long-term harm. For this reason, we consciously invest in formats that give our employees the opportunity to take a little break from everyday work and actively create space for innovations, new projects and the further development of the company.

Team time out Austria

Here we have already undertaken a one-week team trip to the Austrian mountains, where, in addition to the normal work tasks, mindfulness exercises, yoga classes, meditation and hiking trips were on the program. We used the time together as a team-building measure and strategy workshop for the design of new products and services.

flowspiration – Be careful with yourself and your environment

Outside of 7stepssolution, our founder Elisabeth Kraut, together with co-founder Janin Muhammad, is involved in the company flowspiration for mental health in the form of weekend breaks in the countryside. These are filled with impulses for a more sustainable lifestyle and several yoga units as well as relaxation exercises to inspire people and accompany them on their way. After all, health and well-being are not only important for companies, they are also important for private individuals. The employees of 7stepssolution are able to take part in this program – because personal development is particularly important to us in addition to professional development.

SDG 4 Quality Education

SDG 4 – Quality Education

Education for our employees

As a consultant for sustainability, it is part of our everyday work to keep our knowledge up to date. This means that our employees regularly take part in congresses, training courses, certification courses and workshops. Academic further training alongside work in the form of a bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate is also supported, in which the work can be flexibly timed and largely remote.

IHK certificate course “Sustainable Leadership”

Alicia Lamas Jung, Junior Sustainability Manager

“I started the IHK online certificate course “Sustainable Leadership” shortly after I started at 7stepssolution. The course offers various basic and transfer modules relating to sustainability and lasts a total of six months. The goal is to be able to take on the position of a sustainability manager after graduation and “lead sustainably successfully”. The knowledge imparted was very diverse and the exchange with the other participants gave me valuable insights into sustainability management in various industries. I found the modules on sustainability communication and CR management particularly interesting.”

11th Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy Congress

Leonie Szulderits, Intern

“In October 2022 I was able to take part in the Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy Congress BW in Karlsruhe. Over two days, participants have the opportunity to take part in various plenary sessions and forums. The focus is on current trends, concrete practical examples, lively Discussions, stimulating lectures and a great networking atmosphere on the topics of resource efficiency and circular economy. With the aim of gaining new insights, deepening knowledge and making new contacts, I was able to take a lot of input with me over the two days of the congress.”

Sustainability transformation – Analysis of the status quo in the Heilbronn-Franconia region

This project is about finding out how far the transformation process towards more sustainable management of companies in the Heilbronn-Franken region has progressed. In cooperation with science and business, regional network and cooperation partners analyze the current attitude towards sustainability in the region in order to offer joint solutions for the future. Further information can be found on the research website of Heilbronn University.

Sustainability management at Heilbronn University

In order to familiarize students of the Sustainable Procurement Management course at Heilbronn University with the topic of sustainability in an entrepreneurial context, our founder gives the module Sustainability Management every summer semester. This is combined with the topics of corporate management and risk management and is intended to teach the students, among other things, what the operational implications of sustainable management mean and what a sustainability manager can do in a company.

Sustainability in schools

“Ensure inclusive, equitable and high-quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all” – this is the wording of the fourth Sustainable Development Goal. We think it starts with the little ones. It is therefore our goal in the future to hold free training courses for children, young people and students in the field of sustainability in the form of guest lectures. Because we see that the younger generations are self-confidently committed to sustainable development and we want to share our knowledge with them in order to work together on a social transformation towards more sustainability.
SDG 5 Gender Equality

SDG 5 – Gender Equality

Gender-neutral language and equal opportunities

As a young, growing startup, building a diverse team is very important to us. We consciously pay attention to gender-neutral language and inclusive formulations in all our internal and external communication as well as in our recruiting process. We attach great importance to building a team in which everyone is welcome, regardless of the person’s cultural background, age, gender, sexual orientation, world view or physical limitations. Equal opportunity is also reflected in our remuneration, in which all employees are paid the same rate according to their position in the company – regardless of their gender. With the flexible working time models, we would also like to attract young fathers and mothers to our company and give them the opportunity to combine work and family.

Circular Economy

We live in a world with finite resources. Each of us is aware that on the one hand we mine resources, process them into wonderful products and use them and on the other hand throw them away after the usage phase. We know these challenges and it seems impossible that we break this system. But this is not the case!

Following the principles of the circular economy or Circular Economy, companies can develop new business models in order to position themselves with good products and smart Set up future-proof sales channels and survive in the market in the long term. As experts in this field, we offer you special consulting services.

Training on sustainable lifestyles

One of our goals is to work towards imparting knowledge about sustainable lifestyles in the future. To this end, we are working on training courses in companies on the subject of sustainable behavior in the office and home office. At the same time, we would like to pass on this knowledge to schoolchildren, young people, students and adults. Because change begins in the mind, which is why continuous exchange is so important to us!

  • Women’s network of AUDI AG & de Lionesses by MAN Trucks We were allowed to get involved in this network with the topic of behavior change, e.g. in relation to travel and nutrition, and to exchange ideas with the participants.
  • Hays Sustainability Week: In the Hays Sustainability Week, we made a contribution on the subject of sustainable behavior in the office and working from home in order to sensitize employees and encourage them to think.
  • IHK-Heilbronn Franken – 14th South German Efficiency and Sustainability Day 2022 The South German Efficiency and Sustainability Day took place in 2022 together with the Hohenlohe e.V. model and the IHK Heilbronn-Franken. Topics such as circular economy, CO2 balancing and the implementation of sustainability measures played a major role in the lectures. In this role, we from 7stepssolution were able to present possibilities of circular economy and bring closer a vision of a future without waste and consumption renunciation. The second part of the series of events was about starting the construction and development of a sustainability structure in companies.
  • Bodensee Innovation Cluster – Leadership Excellence Institute Zeppelin The BIC constitutes an extended network of research institutions, companies and other relevant stakeholders in the Lake Constance region, which, in addition to the joint development of knowledge, also strives for synergy effects and “best practice” considerations. In this way, the digital transformation in the Lake Constance region can be shaped together. The core of the innovation cluster is the innovation laboratory, which has a coordinating function and is managed by a team of experts from Zeppelin University. Elisabeth Kraut was also allowed to share a contribution on the subject of qualification programs in sustainability management – an impetus and enabler for change management.
  • Hohenlohe energy evening organized by the district office of Hohenlohe “Why do sustainability and digitization belong together?” – Can be divided into hardware & Software topics, technologies such as machine intelligence, Internet of Things, building information modelling, etc. are basically about measuring, evaluating and communicating. Because in order to plan strategically sustainable action, it is necessary to be informed about the sustainability implications of current and planned activities at all times and in a comprehensible manner. This can only be reconciled with the support of digitization and that also leaves a footprint that we must be aware of and deal with. This is a small insight into the topics that we touched on at the Hohenlohe Energy Evening.
  • flowspiration – mindful of yourself and your environment Outside of 7stepssolution, our founder Elisabeth Kraut and co-founder Janin Muhammad are involved in the company flowspiration for mental Health in the form of weekend breaks in the countryside. SDG 9 Industry, Innovation and infrastructure

SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure

Our company values

“Building a resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization and supporting innovation” – these are the guiding principles of the ninth goal for sustainable development and the reason why the 7stepssolution was founded. We see our task and our competence in supporting as many companies as possible in their transformation. Because companies that design their processes to be sustainable, act in a future-oriented manner and solve the upcoming challenges with innovative ideas, offer permanent and secure jobs from which both people and the ecological environment can benefit.

Sustainable account at GLS Bank (see also SDG 17)

GLS Gemeinbank eG stands for “Gemeinschaftsbank für Leihen und Schenken” and is a cooperative bank in which we have shares. It is the first eco-bank in the world and attaches great importance to showing its customers transparently where and how their money works. The GLS Bank has developed its own criteria for this in order to check its customers and to maintain this transparency for each other. All account settlement processes of 7stepssolution run through the GLS Bank in order to integrate the idea of sustainability holistically into our processes and to let our money have a social and ecological effect.

Meetings & Travel

It is important to us to keep our own ecological footprint as small as possible. As a consulting service company, meetings with our customers and partners as well as business trips are the biggest emissions factor. For this reason, in the spirit of sustainable mobility, we only hold customer visits and business trips if necessary. Nevertheless, it is important for us to maintain direct and personal contact with our customers, which is why we make appointments in person, but spend most of our working hours in the home office. For internal travel by 7stepssolution, we use public transport whenever possible and limit car journeys to a minimum.

Climate neutral website

When selecting the IT equipment for our employees, we make sure that all devices come from the second product life cycle. It is important to us that certified data deletion has taken place and that the devices have been made usable for reuse. Our IT service provider Metricsiro supports us on our way to building a green IT concept.

Ecosia as a search engine

The search engine Ecosia uses the income from the search queries made by its users to plant trees where they are urgently needed. We think this is a great contribution to climate protection, which is why Ecosia is installed as the default browser on all PCs, so that every search makes a small contribution to reforestation. SDG 17 partnerships for the goals

SDG 17 – Partnerships for the goals

Our partners

Big goals cannot be achieved alone. That’s why we want to help create and strengthen networks. Because there are already many companies, institutions, communities, projects, associations and individuals who are promoting sustainable development in their own way. With our work as a consulting agency for sustainability and transformation processes, it is our goal to build up and maintain these partnerships and to convey them to other partners, in order to actively use the knowledge of the many through the exchange. You can find a list of our existing partners here.

Our customers

The success of our customers is also our success. If we can bring the idea of sustainability into our customers’ companies and they are shown savings measures, can develop new innovative thinking and thus their employees and their customers :internally can bind better, it is the greatest success for us! It is therefore particularly important to us that we build a partnership and collegial relationship with our customers in which we support each other.
